Year 3
Thunberg Class
Ms H Barker
Year 3 is the first step into Key Stage 2.
Pupils in Year 3 know school expectations and are independent in their learning although they may require support at times. Children begin to develop preferences in reading texts as they begin to read with greater fluency and independence. They learn to write with increasing stamina and start to learn to use paragraphs to organise their writing for the reader.
In maths, pupils build on their previous number learning, using larger numbers up to 1000. They also begin to use more formal addition and subtraction models although concrete objects and manipulatives are still key to ensure their understanding is embedded.
