Nightingale is our Year 1 class.  

In Year 1, we support our pupils to move from child initiated learning in Reception class to more formal learning that they need to progress throughout their primary education.  Children build on their independence skills, and with adult support, learn to apply these across a greater range of areas.

Phonics continues to be a key focus in Year 1 with the Phonics Screener Check completed by every child in June. Parents can find out more here.

Children also build on their numeracy learning from Reception, manipulating numbers up to 20 and counting up to and down from 100.
