New Parents

Welcome To Our School Community

We would like to send a very warm welcome to all of our new parents and carers who secured a Reception place for their child for September 2020.  Although we are currently in more difficult times, we feel it is important to recognise that your child’s journey into primary education began when they were offered a place at our lovely school last week, and would like to start to share information with you straight away.

Getting Ready for School

Please continue to read to your child each day – you can also find books read in an engaging way on You Tube, for instance by the author Julia Donaldson.  Try to encourage your child to recognise their name which will support them to locate their coat peg and name for self-registration each day, and counting numbers in order.  Please see the link below which you might find useful whilst being at home with your child and talking to them about their new school.

It is also really helpful if your child is independent with using the toilet and washing their hands.  Further information can be found in our handbook which will be sent out to you very soon.

Uniform

Children are required to wear a purple polo shirt which can be purchased from school with the school logo, or alternatively from various high street shops or supermarkets without a logo, black joggers, a skirt or trousers and a purple sweatshirt which can also be purchased from the school.  We are very keen to promote independence therefore our uniform has been chosen with this in mind.  We would also ask that children’s shoes are fastened with Velcro as opposed to laces, which also supports the children’s independence.

Transition Arrangements

When we have received further information from the Department of Education regarding the current lockdown, we will be in touch to arrange meetings and to share settling in advice.
