Value of the term - "Resilience"

Welcome to Temple Grove Academy

Welcome to Temple Grove Academy, the first primary school of Temple Grove Academy Trust in Tunbridge Wells. We hope that you will enjoy visiting our website and that it provides you with an insight into our vibrant and happy nursery and primary school. TGA staff are caring, experienced and committed to meeting the individual needs of every child through a happy, secure environment.

School Lunches

All primary children under the age of 7 are entitled to a free school meal under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme. School lunches cost £2.20 per day for all children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) and are payable by cash only, in advance on a weekly or termly basis.

Our school meals catering provider is Edwards & Ward.

For those children on packed lunches, if your child would like to have an occasional lunch (roast on a Wednesday is a very popular choice) then this is possible provided that lunch money is brought into school in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name and class teacher.

The academy has signed up to the School Food Standards and has a healthy eating policy. Parents providing a packed lunch for their children are asked to bear in mind the need to provide a balanced, healthy meal. There is now considerable evidence that food additives cause considerable changes in children’s behaviour and ability to learn. Please do check that sweets and some of the more lurid sweet drinks are not included in the packed lunch. Parents might like to encourage their children to take the  lunch option which guarantees a healthy meal.

Further information on the School Food Standards can be found by using the link below.

As some children have severe nut allergies, it is important that no food items containing peanuts should be included in packed lunches.

Supervision of the lunch break is undertaken by a team of Meal Supervisors

Temple Grove, along with all other schools, receives additional funding to support those children who may be eligible for a free school meal. In order for the academy to receive this additional funding to support these pupils it is essential that parents who feel they are eligible to claim for free school meals for their children still do so, even if the children are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2. Without claiming for this the school will not receive the additional Pupil Premium funding and those pupils will miss out on additional funding that they are entitled to. To encourage new parents to fill in the form, the academy provide a free blazer for all of our new Reception children.

To see if you are eligible for free school meals please click here for further information. You can also apply for free school meals online via this link or fill in a paper application form by clicking here and either send it to the office at TGA or Kent County Council.

Break Time Snacks

The Academy provides children with a piece of fruit or vegetable at break.  Crisps, cereal bars and cheesestrings are not allowed to be eaten at morning break
